Transcript From Announcement 6 February 2021

Good Evening FantaSci Family,

I know that everyone must be curious about what our major announcement is this evening. So let’s be about it!

First, FantaSci is NOT cancelled we are simply pushing it back two months. After reviewing all the relevant information, including the recent COVID-19 numbers in North Carolina and the
current restrictions that are in place, it has been decided to move FantaSci 2021 to May 21 st to 23rd .

Hopefully, by then the restrictions will have relaxed somewhat and the hotel will be able to better meet the needs of FantaSci and its’ attendees. As it currently stands the hotel is working with extremely limited staff and the restaurant itself is closed. I am currently working with the hotel on the best way to transfer everyone’s rooms to the new dates and will provide more information when I can.

As of right now the following guests have confirmed availability for the new dates (in no particular order): Larry Correia, Dave Butler, Monalisa Foster, Doug Burbey, Ian Malone, Stephen Simmons, Terry Maggert, Kevin Ikenberry, TC McCarthy, and Jon R Osborne.

With the following guests as tentative: Mel Todd, Jason Cordova, Jennie Posthumus, and Chris Woods.

I am happy to announce ALL our Lifetime Guests have confirmed they will be in attendance as well.

I would like to personally thank all our guests for working with us in this unique situation.

Second, in regard to the mask policy while attending FantaSci this year. We will be adhering to the North Carolina Executive Order that covers mass gatherings for hotels and conventions. This information can be found on our website (Link on the home page and in the menu) and will be updated as the executive order changes. Please make sure to take the time
to read this information as it includes exemptions from wearing masks for various reasons.

Also, all attendees of FantaSci are required to sign a COVID-19 waiver to release FantaSci, Harrington Festivities LLC and all associated parties from any liability when picking up your pass at registration. Each attendee must pick up their own individual pass, so they can sign the form. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED. This form will be available for review on our website prior to the convention. A copy will also be included in your registration packet.

I know that these changes may be an inconvenience and hope everyone understands that they are necessary for a safe and successful FantaSci. If for any reason you are not comfortable attending, adhering to the mask policy at FantaSci that may be in place, or the new dates are not conducive to your schedule, I will accept requests to roll over passes to FantaSci 2022 (which will be March 25th to 27th ). You have until May 15th , 2021 to request a roll over.

All requests should fill out a google form that will go live on fantasci.rocks on Monday February the 8th. We will respond to you as quickly as possible, however, please allow us adequate time to process the request.

I know that these announcements may upset some people and that there will be those who are opposed to us having FantaSci. I simply ask that you understand the extremely trying circumstances that not only FantaSci, but other conventions have been through in the past year.

Remember, FantaSci has been and always will be by the fans for the fans. Regardless of your decision, myself and the staff look forward to seeing you at the next FantaSci you will be attending.

I thank everyone for their time and choosing to being part of the FantaSci family and I look forward to seeing you all in person May 21st to the 23rd .
